My girlfriend and I were just out in Death Valley this weekend, and we had a scary close call.
We were on a ride on my Road Glide, deep in the middle of nowhere. We got zero GPS, zero cell service.
All of a sudden, the screen started flashing and the voltage went haywire. We were about 15 miles from the nearest town, so we flipped a U-turn and hauled ass.
Just as we got within eyeshot of the service station, the speedo shut down, then everything went completely dead, and we coasted right into the lot.
After some testing, I'm pretty sure the stator is shot. The good news is, I have an extended warranty.
My question is, since they'll be in there replacing the stator, what else should we be thinking about having them do?
The bike has about almost 25K miles on it, and it feels like a good chance to get some preventative maintenance done. Any ideas?
